As a school, we continuously aim to improve and explore different ways of increasing student engagement, collaboration, and achievement. As part of our efforts to act upon this goal, school was fortunate to have received a grant from Verizon allowing us to issue iPads to our middle school body! The iPads allow us to explore other ways to engage our students and opens up several opportunities to have our students express themselves and facilitate their learning. As our teachers continue to explore these new opportunities, an accessory, the Apple Pencil, has emerged as a crucial accessory to the iPads to help us facilitate learning even more! Our teachers have voiced that the Apple Pencil would be an excellent tool for our students to use in helping them learn. Teachers have been using regular styli in classes to help facilitate learning; math teachers are using them to have students work on multi step equations, science teachers use them to illustrate different forms of matter, and art teachers use them to have students express themselves in digital form. All of them have a common goal of infusing technology in their learning process. However, they also realize that a regular stylus has limitations that would be resolved by using the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil will be able to help students to take more effective notes, highlight reading passages, have more artistic flexibility and more! Student would be able to transition from their regular pencil and paper to digital notetaking. The Apple Pencil will allow this to happen and continue to drive to increase student engagement, collaboration, and achievement.
