My students are voracious readers and these books will help them continue to read current novels that are based on topics relevant to their lives. I'm requesting forty copies of the novel The Sun Is Also a Star which explores the topics of immigration law, time-travel paradoxes, and interracial relationships. The students will not only read the novel, but they will participate in a Socratic Seminar relating to themes in the story as well as complete research about immigration law. Students will also complete research about time-travel paradoxes to discuss during the meeting. Rockets Reading Club provides motivation for students to enjoy reading by giving them the opportunity to read current novels with main characters they can relate to.
