Students currently have access to classroom Chromebooks and computers. Having headphones would make it possible for students to do independent research and complete activities that would individualize their learning. We use Lexia, a program that individualizes student instruction in literacy allowing them to practice skills independently. Headphones would allow students to listen to instruction carefully and respond appropriately with time to listen and think without distractions. For research, students would be able to use headphones to research topics online using programs like Pebble GO without distracting the others with the audio from these websites. Students would be able to access Google Read and Write to complete projects using audio as a support, keeping them focused on their learning while allowing others to do the same. Having student headphones would allow all students the ability to focus on their own learning without being distracted by what others are doing.
