The Next Generation Science Standards asks students to observe and explain phenomena on a continuous basis. These students need to have the skills to create models that explain scientific phenomena. They also need to have the skills to analyze scientific phenomena and apply science practices that support their explanations of this phenomena. Students who do not have the use of technology to apply science practices are being left out. These laptops will help these students get closer to the experience of analyzing data. It will allow groups of students be smaller. When students are organized into large groups, disengaged students will tune out more quickly. Giving these students responsibilities and an opportunity to be more involved will help to re-engage them. Having smaller groups helps make this happen. It helps them realize they are not being left out.
