My 8th grade classes explored being business owners by designing food trucks. They were required to create a menu, grocery list and nutrition label for their truck as well as market it. They finished the project by making an item from their menu and voting on the best trucks! Through this project, I realized that my students had a limited concept of money and thus we started a financial literacy unit. They've been working hard learning about income and expenses and asked how we could practice their new knowledge with games. They proposed that Monopoly and Life are great ways to practice their new financial literacy skills and I completely agree with them.
