My classroom is made up of students from various backgrounds, neighborhoods and academic levels. As I switch from first grade to second grade, I hope to expand my classroom library so it is both engaging and challenging for all of my new students.
Books will not only engage students to help master necessary standards, but create life-long readers, who through reading can begin to better empathize with one another and travel the world through pages.
I dream of a classroom surrounded by book-filled shelves, and just like Max's room in "Where the Wild Things Are", I will be able to say it is a place where "the walls became the world all around.â€
