We spend a lot of time working together to build social skills. Since they are between 6 and 8 years old, play is the best way for them to learn the skills they need to be successful in life. I use Brio Trains, Lego's and Hot Wheels as our mainstay for these lessons. These little guys deserve the chance to be little kids, make friends and have fun all while learning.
Computers would allow my students to work independently on the academic skills they need to catch up with their peers. They will also give my students the opportunity to learn coding and other important skills that they are missing. State testing requires all students to use computers to complete the tests. Not having computers in my classroom puts my students at a disadvantage because they are not proficient using the keyboard.
