Students will choose to sit at an exercise bike, a standing desk, use a pedal desk under a standard student desk, or sit at an exercise ball or use the balance boards. Each student will be able to rotate through using all of the tools and will be able to find what he or she prefers.
With the enhanced technology in education today, I'm trying to find a way for my students to be active learners. Students are spending so much time working on tablets or laptops, which is exactly what they need in order to be functional members of society, but they also have to keep their minds engaged. I believe that these seating options will offer them that opportunity.
I think that with students being able to explore the various seating opportunities, they will learn how to speak out and advocate for themselves and their best interests. In addition, these kinetic learning opportunities will also allow my students the opportunity to expend some energy during a very long school day.
