My school has an established literacy curriculum, but nothing to supplement that curriculum with science, math, social studies, art, or music. My students love to build and be creative in the block center. Many of them enter the classroom speaking very little English. Building and creating is a good way for the students to get involved with very little language skills. It also gives them an opportunity to build their vocabulary and work cooperatively with other students.
I would like to create a science/engineering curriculum to use in my classroom that fosters my student's creativity. I am requesting books and materials that are safe for preschoolers to build with. We will read a variety of books and create design challenges from those stories. I would like to see all of my students develop a richer vocabulary, while giving them confidence to be creative and think outside the box!
