My classroom is comprised of 20 children from ages 3-5 who are diverse in race, religion, cultural backgrounds, and developmental levels. I implement the Tools of the Mind curriculum at Children's Village, a Keystone 4 Star and NAEYC accredited center located in Center City, Philadelphia. My classroom holds a variety of learning centers, which are organized with labeled materials that fit the needs of students in all developmental areas. There are writing and drawing utensils, paper, manipulatives, props, recyclable materials, and theme-related items in each center. Through our learning themes (which are selected based upon the interests of students), my classroom transforms into new centers within each theme. For example, if you come into my classroom when we are learning about 'Restaurants', you'll get to enjoy an ice cream cone from our handmade ice cream cart.
