Because literacy-rich environments can be individualized to meet students’ needs, students would benefit from having access to the different materials and resources hoped for. The carpet will be used as a central location for our class to meet and a place to introduce lessons, provide explicit and direct instruction, read and share big books, engage in "grand" conversations, and work in small groups. This rug will create a place for students to be a part of a relaxed area to complete assignments.
The listening station will encourage independent reading and the ability to share their understanding of stories listened to. I plan to create a literacy-filled environment using the storyteller listening station, the easel (used to conduct small group lessons) and the privacy partitions which will reinforce independence and confidence when students are completing assessments and other independent assignments. These materials will help engage students in a variety of reading and writing activities while some students are working in groups and others are working individually.
These materials will help me to create an atmosphere and décor of literacy interactions. The selection of these materials will facilitate language and literacy opportunities and build confidence, independence, strong learners/readers, and an overall love for books and literacy. Students enter the class eagerly and ready to read. The printer will afford me the opportunity to communicate with all stakeholders and conveniently print letters, homework assignments, parent letters, and grade-level communications and lesson plans.
The materials will help me to share that reading is fundamental and helps to create successful students who are college and career ready! Please donate to our much needed class project! We will appreciate and love you for the same. Thank you!
