My students have chosen to attend our public alternative high school for various reasons. Many are at-risk and at an economic disadvantage. Some are behind in school because of the necessity of working to support a family. Some have missed school due to anxiety or depression. Others simply could not succeed in a traditional classroom environment. In all cases, my students have made the choice to catch up to their peers and continue their educations, rather than to drop out of school. They are resilient, brave, and kind. My students have tremendous potential and my goal is to provide them with a learning environment that helps them to realize that potential.
