Imagine sitting in a desk for 90 minutes straight and not being able to move, unless you asked to go to the bathroom or to go to the water fountain for a quick break. This would be a tough task for most adults, let alone children. I would like to give my students the choice of where they would like to learn for the day. In order to do that, I am asking for some help to provide some flexible seating options in my language arts classroom.
By supporting my project you will give students the freedom that they deserve in the classroom.
The National Education Association conducted research that helped prove that students need to move around in order to complete mentally challenging tasks. By allowing my students to have the choice of where to learn they will be able to focus more intently on the tasks at hand. Also, being able to stand or move around has also been proven to help stimulate creativity and prevent writer's block.
Items like low tables will provide some students the ability to work on the floor rather than in a confined desk. Some other beneficial items are the comfortable chairs. These will give some students the extra motivation that they sometimes need to complete their work.
This project will no doubt create a positive mindset and atmosphere in my middle school classroom. Thank you so much for donating and helping promote student success in my class!
