It is important for students to be able to find books that are in their appropriate reading level. Organizing our library into guided reading levels that students can access easily will help improve their reading ability. They will be able to choose books that they can read and put them in their own personal reading bin to read for the week. Students will also use the sticky notes to write about what they are thinking while reading when we are doing Reader's Workshop. This is a big step in reading and will help them grow and improve their comprehension.
I want to continue to teach my kids to love reading. I can see all their smiles when I tell them it is time for Reader's Workshop. They excitedly grab their books and reading buddies (stuffed dogs) and read their books. As I look around I see them engaged in the stories they are reading. Some are smiling and some look surprised about something that is happening in the story. They can't wait to share what they read and what they did while reading when we meet in circle time.
