If we are able to have these Lego WeDo kits within our classroom, we are able to enhance understanding of how the engineering design process works along with being able to think of real-world problems and situations and think outside of the box on how we can create, design, and model/program how that tool will help society. The idea behind the Lego WeDo kits is to prompt students with real-world problems and showing them how to use the engineering process to be able to design a way to solve their problem, draft it, then use the LEGO kits to create a model using the model along with create a code in the program to be able to design the function of what the machine will do to solve the problem/task at hand.
This project will put a different view lens on how STEM & Technology play a huge role in our society. It allows my student to not just design, but create and bring their ideas to life which sparks learning and engages them in understanding that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
With adding the LEGO WeDo 2.0 kits to my classroom, it will allow my students to have a different view on the engineering design process along with giving them coding practice in creating, modeling, and design coding and expanding their learning in a more creative way that will align with the 21st century. It will also support their learning that is geared towards the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
