As teachers we need to be innovative with our tools and methods. We need to prepare our students for the future using the appropriate tools. In a technology driven world in which education is perceived as less fun it is important to engage and prepare students with the right tools. I have one iPad for my classroom which was originally my daughters and they absolutely love it. It is a great incentive to reward hardworking students. However, the amount of time they spend using it is limited because they have to take turns.
We need an iPad to work on technology driven programs such as Kahoot, Show Me, and a lot of fun math games.
With the addition of another 2 iPads, my students will have more individual time with technology. The iPads will be used during math and literacy centers with applications and games that teach and strengthen academic concepts. The iPad will be used for reading and writing activities as well as games that reinforce math facts and vocabulary. The possibilities are endless because students are more engaged in their education when technology is used. Student engagement leads to higher academic gains.
