There are several reasons my class desperately needs tablets in the classroom. My students live in a rural area and many of them do not have access to technology at home. Tablets would allow my students to gain first-hand experience with technology. Technology has continued to become a necessary part of our work force.
Imagine a classroom where students are collaborating, using higher order thinking skills and taking learning to a new level with technology!
This is how I envision my classroom with tablets. The majority of my students are English Language learners who need more opportunities to practice their listening and speaking skills. There are so many experiences that my students will not be able to investigate unless they have technology available to them. Science in particular requires hands on activities; with tablets students can visit other planets, observe animals in their natural settings, and communicate with other schools around the world.
Right now our community is very small and isolated, tablets will open the world up to my students and take them to amazing places.
