My classrooms have been diverse in all aspects of learning and academic strengths/challenges, attention levels, ethnicity, financial and family backgrounds. I encourage learning independence, self confidence and awareness through student choice. This includes student seating. By giving students choices, I believe that they learn to take responsibility and accountability for their decisions, as well as learn what works best for their learning. This allows students to feel more comfortable in taking academic risks and further growing their little minds. Studies have shown that flexible seating such as bouncy seats, standing desks, rocking chairs, etc. allow one to focus more. With a young group of students, many of which need constant movement, these seating tools will greatly increase their attention span and frustration levels. Any donation is greatly appreciated by me, my students and their families.
