First, I'd like to just say how lucky I am to be able to teach where I teach! My students are absolutely wonderful. However, because the majority of my students come from low-income households and are on free lunch, my students can't afford a lot of the luxuries other students experience. The district and my school, in general, are also unable to provide essential things needed in a music classroom because of budget problems. I want my students to love music just like me! I know I needed music in school as a way of learning about myself and the world around me.
It will make all the difference in the world to my underprivileged students to have these wonderful experiences! My students deserve a chance to experience music like this.
