In 8th grade, most students enjoy working with technology. They learn through exploring lessons and concepts online. My students enjoy using their technology to practice and apply new concepts they have learned along the way. We have a limited number of tablets in our room and a full classroom of students. There is not enough time for all of them to have the time needed with new technology.
Encouraging my students to learn and practice new concepts through technology allows them to use what they know and are comfortable with. Since introducing the online activities to my students, they have been more engaged and their scores have increased. If we had more access to technology through the Chromebooks I am requesting, more of my students would have access to the online skills activities.
We have a blended classroom, and, through rotations, the students have time to get online. With the availability of more technology, more students can access the activities more frequently. This will not only impact the classroom but will also impact their test scores.
