A large rug is extremely important in my classroom. Students are able to stay focused and engaged in lessons when they sit in close proximity to the Smart Board and White Board. A rug will allow the students to sit comfortably on the floor, which will aid in instruction. Without a rug, my students have a hard time sitting still on the floor because they are constantly trying to find a comfortable position. Many request to return to their seats because their legs become sore. This causes students to miss parts of the lesson or lose focus.
During testing, it is important to have a guarantee that my students are showing what they know. Many students find it difficult to stay focused on their own work during tests. This makes it difficult for me to determine which skills students actually mastered or skills in which they may need additional help. Privacy Partitions will allow students to stay focused on their own work and show what they know.
Finally, it is important for students to practice the skills and strategies that they learn during reading instruction. A great way to do this is by allowing students to participate in center activities. A Center Pocket Chart will help me to easily put my students into groups and provide a visual schedule to help my students efficiently transition from one center to another.
