It benefits the students to go outside during the day and run their excess energy, but if a student has no coat, they are sent inside feeling as if they are being punished for not having a coat to wear. Or freezing with a just a jacket to play in.
Being able to play at recess allows social skills above that in which we could teach. They have the freedom to play and interact more than any other time in the day. Building friendships and integrating their interests, including soccer, social play, swings, football, swings or tether ball.
The students come in with focus and are ready to learn.
