This graphic autobiography is accessible to all students regardless of reading level. In addition to the book's accessibility, it is the perfect work to explore a culture and geographic region which otherwise my students will not learn about in high school. Reading Persepolis will allow students to draw comparisons between their own upbringings and Marjane's life during the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Falling between our study on Things Fall Apart and Catcher in the Rye, this text will also allow us to explore a female protagonist similar in age to my 9th grade students and they are already excited about the possibility of reading it!
