The year, I am trying to make the majority of our lessons as hands-on, and project based as possible. I have found that the skills students need and utilize to accomplish these lessons are skills that they will need and use for a lifetime.
My students need whisper phones to help increase reading engagement, and building magnets for hands-on math and science projects! The materials requested for these two projects will both help to aide student engagement, and their critical thinking skills! I have seen students use whisper phones during independent reading time, and they LOVE them! They help students to read with accuracy, and expression, and they enjoy hearing themselves so much. They make reading so much fun! These whisper phones will be used during our reading block, as an option for students to utilize during their independent reading time.
The magnets are also so fun and engaging for ALL ages (adults included). There are so many projects and challenges students can be given with these building tools. My students will be given a wide range of tasks in both math and science that they will need the blocks for as a resource and tool.
