Personal headphones will make intervention time more meaningful for the students in my class because a majority of them are unable to read the material on their own. Having headphones will allow them to listen to someone else read the passages and minimize the distractions from their peers laptops.
These students are economically disadvantaged and are not able to afford their own headphones for school. Having individual headphones will give these students opportunities to listen to stories throughout the school day and increase their AR points. It will also give those students who are performing below grade level the opportunity to engage in meaningful phonics lesson that will help them become fluent readers.
