I teach ninety-four eighth graders at KIPP Ujima Village Academy. Our motto is "Excellence without Exception" and we strive to achieve this goal on a daily basis. Even with support of a national network, we are still very much in need to high quality reading material for our students. I have found great significance in giving students their own book to read during a unit and ultimately allowing them to keep it and build their personal book collection.
When a student tells me that they don't like reading, I simply tell them that they haven't found the right book yet. I am really excited to bring the love of learning and reading to my students at KUVA!
