My students are a bunch of dreamers, inventors, mathematicians, writers, and researchers. They are living in the 21st Century without proper access to technology at school. We have 1 Mac Book and 4 old iMacs. Our school is a large Title 1 public school, where every student gets a free lunch. All of my students are learning English as a second language and many of them enter second grade below grade level. Even though parents are willing to help, they are unable to help them read or write in English. The amazing thing about technology is that learning can continue outside of school! When they get to school they energetically tell me all about You Tube. They watched videos on Bieber and Annoying Orange. I want to use the iPad to educate and create instead! I want them to tell me about an awesome science app they downloaded or that they struggled with their homework and went to our class website that has helpful resources. Technology is not all about games and music videos.
