With the majority of my students coming from non-english speaking homes they have had more obstacles than most on the journey to finding a love of reading. In our classroom I place a huge emphasis on the importance not just of being able to read, but loving to read.
My hope is to use these book bins to inspire my students to take ownership of their reading lives, to push themselves and each other to work hard and better themselves. Giving these students somewhere permanent that they can store their books gives them a sense of control and ownership. I hope that by providing my students with these boxes I can spark the love of reading in them.
