I am planning for an excellent school year, but I don't have the essential materials that are pertinent to teaching my incoming kindergartners in an intimate whole group setting. I am asking for an area rug that will be spacious enough for my 20 students. I am also asking for a teaching easel that can be used while I teach my whole group lessons to my class. My room has tile flooring and without an area rug, my students have to sit on the tile floor in order to come close together with their peers and myself as we engage in effective classroom learning. I want to avoid having my students sit on the floor. Providing them with a rug will encourage them to want to come and sit in close proximity to each other. Also, having a new rug will enable my class to share, connect, cognitively engage, and discuss our learning among the group. The donations to this project will help to ensure that my students will have a positive, safe, welcoming, and encouraging learning environment inside of my classroom. I believe that a teaching easel will be a great resource to have so that I can teach my students during whole group lessons. The easel makes it easier for me to be in an intimate setting with my students because of the close proximity that we have. It provides a visual resource to all students, especially my visual learners and ESL students. Easels are also student friendly because they can be used by students as individual literacy, math, science, or social studies centers.
