Life-long cooking skills are valuable to any individual. However, this becomes even more important to students with intellectual disabilities. Through printed materials, using the laminating pouches and cardstock requested in this project, the students will learn to read and create food items within our classroom and school cooking lab. This is not only a lifelong skill but it is also about trying new things they may have never tried before. Printed materials will also be given to the students to take home. We encourage our parents to use the recipes provided at home to build family time as well.
Students are able to learn how to care for themselves through cooking skills. Due to COVID-19, we keep every child's materials color coordinated. I am requesting those items like the kitchenware and napkins, as well. Doing so prevents food and other supplies from being shared. We will use items we can keep out of landfills.
