Students struggle to come to school on time. They often stroll in 30 to 45 minutes late. They often miss out on important instruction. My students are first graders who require every minute possible of learning. We begin our day with reading which includes learning foundational skills that they must master before moving to second grade.
Discovery buckets have been a game changer in my classroom! Students come to school on time and ready to learn simply because of the addition of these activities. Unfortunately, our budget is limited, and we only have a few activities to rotate. This project would allow our students the opportunity to experience more choices.
These discovery buckets (a.k.a. Tardy Terminators) not only have improved attendance, but they also encourage problem solving, creativity and team work. They also strengthen fine motor skills which aids in their handwriting.
