Students will scatter throughout our school and visit places within the school that they think bacteria live. They will swab the area and take the swab back to the classroom and place it in a petri dish that contains agar, which is a nutrient for bacteria to grow. We need the incubator to grow the bacteria. Afer a few days in the incubator, the students will view what type of bacteria they have found. Students will be able to identify and visualize their bacteria under the microscope. Students will benefit from this activity by applying the disciplinary core content material to applied science.
