My students need Chromebooks to take full advantage of all the amazing online resources that are available as part of our new Reading and Science curriculum. Our district has helpfully provided each student with a Google Docs account, but with only 4 classroom computers, we have been unable to fully utilize this. I am eager to get started!
These Chromebooks would allow 2 groups of 5-6 students at a time to work independently on an activity or assignment, or pairs/small groups of students to work collaboratively on a problem or project. In addition, this technology will make it easier for students to practice their math skills for 45 minutes per week on the i-Ready platform, a district requirement, and utilize the Lexia program for additional reading support.
Quite simply, Chromebooks would help to address the needs of all learners. With an endless amount of programs and apps, this technology would benefit all of my students by targeting the differing ability levels, my English Language Learners, and the various learning styles. They would also get to practice their keyboarding skills. My students are learning and growing in a technological age. Chromebooks will keep them motivated and competitive.
