In order for students to learn, they must be open-minded and focused. Mindful movement and breath awareness practice is the answer. Not only does this practice open our hearts and help us tune in to the present moment, but it also helps us let go of anything that isn't serving us; any negative thoughts or emotions are simply forgotten.
By giving students the tools they need to calm their minds and bodies while they are children, we are preparing them for an adult life full of constant growth, creativity and innovation. Practicing yoga and meditation in classrooms is becoming the new method for effective teaching. It contributes towards better class management and overall mental, physical, and emotional well-being for the student AND the teacher! That is why I need a class set of yoga mats for my classroom.
