As a ESOL former student I believe that reading is more interesting when I can relate to the story. "STEPPING OUT" is about books that give us the opportunity to read about our own culture while we find connections with others. When students can relate to the stories they read it makes their experience with reading meaningful. I want to bring books to my classroom, in which my students can have the opportunity to read and find some connection. When my students read about stories that have no meaning to them they lose interest and find reading so much challenging.
