These robotic projects will help encourage fun learning in the class and allow them to engage in something that is interesting to them. So many times at this age students question the value of their learning. This will allow them to use math, reading and comprehensive skills and more importantly allow them to create something that demonstrates the skill set they are learning.
This will also help them re-enforce concepts around team building, following directions, sharing and collaborating (it will be group project) improving patience, concentration and cognitive skills. This will be a project they elect to do when they are done with the agenda in the class, thus giving them an incentive to get work done and complete tasks.
The ingenious robot will be used for the younger scholars in my group. The Mega construction kit will be used to challenge the older kids in the groups and allow for more versatility once they have completed one. The LEGO kit will help them learn more about coding and actually see that theory a real world application that they are interested in.
