Our school is 100% free and reduced lunch in a low-poverty housing community. We work hard to help the students make strong connections in literacy and mathematic instruction to succeed for years to come.
Our second grade students use text in a variety of forms to help their language development. The primary grades are some of the most important years to build the necessary foundational skills to be successful as they continue through school and into the work force. With many of our students language acquisition learners with many families as language learners the idea of exposure to multiple types of reading such of those seen in Scholastic News & Science Spin articles provides a rich and engaging way to build vocabulary in different real life topics.
