The unemployment rate for special needs adults is alarmingly high. Exposing students to the skills they will need to obtain gainful employment as adults will increase their chances of getting a job after graduation. By exposing kids to the skills early , as well as increase their self-esteem.
There is also a need to teach special needs students the self care skills they need to care for themselves. They need to know how to stay clean, fed and safe. This requires the constant provisions of personal hygiene, cooking and laundry supplies, as well as the financial means to provide authentic, real-world experiences to learn how to survive in the world.
About my class
