Failed attempt after failed attempt and project just doesn't seem to be feasible. Then, the light bulb clicks on because one person said just the right word or brought you the one tool you didn't realize you needed. These tools allow me to do that for my students who have failed attempts at math. I have been able to create projects that engage students in new and innovative ways.
They learn to work with groups of students and learn from one another, see how to display their work in an organized fashion and critique the way other groups organize their work, and make connections to the real world by measuring weights, heights, areas, volumes, and so much more. These real connections lead to personal understanding of the the concepts in linear algebra, quadratic functions, step functions, geometric density and volumes that they can now use to understand and pass the classes they have struggled with for so long. They are achieving through enriched hands-on activities. This is part 2 of 2 parts.
