Flexible seating options will make a difference in my student's learning by giving them the option of choice. Having a choice in any part of learning gives a student a sense of accountability and ownership over their learning. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where there will work, and at times, with whom. These floor seats will also allow students to stay engaged for longer periods of time because they will be able to change positions and locations as needed.
Flexible seating creates an environment that encourages students to share their space and supplies - creating an area that feels more like a home rather than a traditional classroom.
Studies have shown that flexible seating can increase student collaboration due to the ability to socialize and interact with each other without having to rearrange heaving desks and stiff metal chairs. It is clear that learning environments have a direct impact on student success.
