Our students have had the opportunity to have had iPads all of last year, but unfortunately our old dinosaur iPads are no longer working this year. My students use iPads every single day for a wide variety of applications.
We use iPads as a goal to work for when students with behavior needs need motivation, as a way for non-verbal students to communicate with teachers and their peers, for tests that can only be accessed through iPads, and as a way for students who have a hard time with traditional learning to access the curriculum.
iPads open up a number of doors for my hugely diverse classroom, reinforcing lessons not only in reading, writing, and math, but in music, art, and science, as well as social skills like sharing. Most of my students do not have access to technology in their homes, so the technology that they get to experience in our classroom is the highlight of their day. Additionally, my students are still working on skills like taking turns, sharing, and dealing with frustration, so otterboxes are crucial to the survival of our iPads!
