I am implementing a new curriculum that is focused on introducing incoming freshmen to a wide range of high interest short stories. Why short stories? They're quick, unintimidating, and they can lead students who have lost the taste for reading down unexpected roads towards life-long reading interests.
The short stories on this list blend a range of interests that will spark excitement in young readers: genre bending thrillers, romance, mystery, suspense, teen drama, and timely real-world social issues.
With these stories I hope to reinvigorate a love of reading that will last a lifetime. Please help me guide my young readers to discover their identities as readers!
