I utilize the raspberry pi within my agriculture mechanics curriculum as an introduction to the electrical wiring unit. Traditionally the electrical wiring covered in AG curriculum only covers the basic circuits need for home maintenance and only going as complex's as OSHA ten certification for contracting work. The raspberry pi technology not only introduces students to the basics of wiring ( ground, hot, and neutral) but also allows the students to gain hands on experience with the technology being used in the majority of today's farm equipment. This ranges from green house irrigation and landscape pest control ( weeding) to Drons and the further development of self driving tractors and harvesters.
Students will be wiring the raspberry pis then moving on to wiring the basic house circuits to continue sharping their skills. After which students will return to the raspberry pis in an inquiry project designed to develop their coding skills by having their pis complete an assigned task in the Agricultural shop. Task are chosen at random from a stack of "mock up cards".
