Many students with Autism have sensitivities to textures and touching things that are within their environment. These flexible seating options will provide my students with different resources they can use to help address their sensory and learning needs. Instead of only having a chair and desk to work at they will now have the option to select where they would want to do their work. In the past I have had students who would just sit on the carpet trying to stabilize a clipboard to try and complete their work which was challenging for them. However, if they have the lap desk they would be able to complete their work without worrying about holding the clipboard stable.
With these new seating options my students will be more actively engaged in their learning as well as have their sensory needs met. By providing my students with alternative seating I would be able to take away some discomfort so they are able to preform to their true potential.
