Universities and their students are using virtual reality technologies to learn and train, it is time to prepare our students for this future! The future is Virtual Reality!
The Oculus VR Headset will allow students to explore the world right from our classroom. They will be able to experience virtual field trips and be able to visit all the Spanish-speaking countries that we are studying. With this VR headset, I will be able to download videos, pictures, and experiences in advance, and students will be able to use it to explore the world. A virtual reality headset will allow students to "go places" around the world without ever leaving the classroom! From La Puerta del Sol in Madrid to Punta del Este, to traveling through art museums in Spain or the Constitution Plaza in Mexico, students will be able to engage physically in their education. This will allow me to help make the curriculum an even more memorable experience for them.
The virtual reality headsets have built-in computers so there are no wires. Students will be safe and free to explore new virtual worlds that will inspire students to explore and understand our real world better. Engaging!
This project uses the Oculus Quest VR systems to explore the application of virtual reality in a World Language classroom. Students will have access to a variety of applications where they will be able to explore the world at their fingertips. Other applications will encourage critical thinking and collaboration as they work in teams to accomplish a variety of goals. The Oculus Quest is a cutting edge virtual reality platform that is sure to bridge the gap between reality and the impossible!
