Our students are encouraged to think about their world and to ask questions. They are active participants in an ever-changing world begging for problem-solvers and critical thinkers. Our school is based on an inquiry model that enables students to take ownership of their learning. We ask students to be involved by asking questions to help them understand material and to think and respond to information. Students take active roles in their learning and regularly question and hypothesize about the issues in the world around them. It isn't enough to know information - they must also create meaning from it.
Our community does an excellent job of supporting its schools, but our state funding is low compared to neighboring districts, so sometimes the budget is tight. Our students do a lot with what they have, and it'd be great to get more tools into their hands on a daily basis. They loved the Global Read-Aloud. More computers would mean additional ways to connect with others world-wide.
