We are requesting a field to the Statue of Liberty and an unforgettable experience in the Big Apple. This trip will take students on an immigration voyage to 19th century Ellis Island where so many previous immigrants first encountered the symbol of American freedom. Students will hear stories of immigrants journeys and make connections to their own immigration experience. Students will learn through first hand experience what it was like to arrive at Ellis Island by boat and compare their journey to that of previous generations. This project will give our lower income students a chance to travel to New York city by bus and participate in a field trip that might otherwise be out of reach or impossible for them.
