I have some students with visual impairments who come to my physical education class. My school is lacking in equipment to fully support their learning. Through the purchase of this equipment, students with visual impairments will have an equal opportunity to learn with their peers who do not have a disability.
With the use of the blindfolds, my students can develop their social and emotional learning through the use of teamwork and building trust with one another! The beeper balls and bells will be used to help support the students with visual impairments in a general physical education environment.
The theme is, "A Loss of Sight, But Never a Loss of Vision." I learned of this quote through my participation as a camp counselor for Camp Abilities, a sports camp for individuals with visual impairment. Although there may be a loss of sight, they are capable of achieving so much with even the slightest accommodations or modifications!
