Our daily schedule is packed! Every day, we have 120 minutes
of literacy and 90 minutes of math, as well as a 45-minute enrichment block. We also have to fit in social studies and science lessons throughout the week. This schedule reflects the School District of Philadelphia's ambitious educational goals for its students, and we as teachers are happy to push our students to grow as much as possible. However, our jam-packed schedule requires a classroom where materials are accessible at a moment's notice.
With 30 students-worth of supplies to manage, getting materials ready for our lessons can take a big chunk out of precious learning time. Seat sacks will allow our students to keep everything they need within arm's reach. Instead of sending 30 students to their cubbies to get their pencil cases, or waiting for 30 whiteboards to get passed around to each student, everyone could simply turn around and grab their materials in seconds. This means we can focus on our lessons - the reason students come to school - rather than the routines for supplies.
