Within our school we have created a second math class for all of our students. The purpose of that class is to encourage math investigation. Our continued focus is on geometry, something that deserves more time than typically given in a general math class.
These geometry manipulatives will serve as a tool to encourage the existing enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge that our students regularly demonstrate when given the opportunity to experience hands on learning. Because of our school's limited resources, these hands on learning experiences would not typically be available. These manipulatives can be used for a variety of investigations. Having the opportunity to work with these tools will encourage continued appreciation for the investigation process.
